Sound and sightlines are perfect from everywhere, the staff is outwardly kind and helpful, parking is free and easy, nearby hotels abound, and the full-arena general admission policy makes it easy to congregate with large groups of friends. The Mothership is a live music time machine that strips away the layers of modern luxury that most other venues afford and gets down to the raw essence of rock and roll. Beyond its staggering history, Hampton Coliseum provides a uniquely communal concert experience for fan. Goosemas X, the tenth iteration of the band’s annual holiday celebration that started as a three-set pizza and keg party at the Factory Underground in Norwalk, CT in ( 12/20/14), also serves as the largest headlining sellout of Goose’s nine-year career-in a legendary venue that has also played host to notable acts ranging from Elvis Presley, The Rolling Stones, The Grateful Dead, and Phish. ![]() ![]() ![]() More abstract, thematic “mirrors” abounded throughout the show, too, as the band performed both fast and slow versions of originals “All I Need”, “Tumble” and “So/Slow Ready”. Goose took its fans on an extraterrestrial ride on Friday night as the Hampton Coliseum, affectionately known as the Mothership for its spaceship-like exterior, blasted off to planets of Fire and Ice during the first installment of a space-themed Goosemas weekend at the legendary Hampton, VA arena.įour first-time-played covers included a 23-minute, jammed-out version of Justin Timberlake’s “Mirrors” and a take on Michael Jackson’s “Man In The Mirror” during an ice-themed first set followed by Jimi Hendrix’s “Fire”, Kings Of Leon’s “Sex On Fire”, and a seven-year bust-out of Talking Heads’ “Burning Down The House” (last played ) as part of a fire-themed second set laced with pyrotechnics.
